• First you are required to Get a Business Fictitious Trade Name within 30 days of starting your business.

• If you want to do business as a corporation or LLC, you need to Get certificates to enjoy the status.

  • Note that you also need a Business Fictitious Trade Name certificate or a corporation / LLC certificate to open a business bank account as well as a merchant account (to accept credit cards).  You cannot make money unless you have a way to collect the money.

• If you are required to Get a federal Tax Id Number Number, you need it to open a  bank account.  Note that this is required for employers, corporations and LLCs.

• If you are an employer, you need your federal AND State Employer Number (EIN)employment identification number to collect and pay unemployment taxes for your employees

• If you are a wholesaler, retailer, or lessor of taxable services or items, you need a Wholesaler's or Retailer's Buyer's License / resale license to start buying from wholesalers or sell to retailers.

• Finally, you are required to Get a Business License or Permit or a Home-Based occupation permit before you start operations.  If you don't Get , one, you may be subject to monetary as well as punitive liability.
